Be still and know that I am God…

So many questions… so many whys… facing the reality of seemingly unanswered prayers. But wait, Ps. 32 tells me that, “As for God, His way is perfect.” Perfect? But OH! how can it be perfect not to heal our precious sister? How can it be perfect to take this beloved wife and mother away from her family? God, we still need her here! What are you doing with us? And He speaks to me and says, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Is. 41:10

So, right now we can’t see His plan, we still have more questions than answers, but we have a God who is carrying us through each hour and we choose to lean on Him. Oh, how precious our Savior becomes in the midst of such dark times!

Lorne, our boys and I came to Indiana last Saturday to spend some time with Virgil’s family during this valley they are journeying through right now. Liz is becoming weaker and I’m so thankful for every day that we are still able to share a few minutes with her. Each visit feels to me like a gift from God.

Regina stayed in MX to take care of Tania. We miss our girls so much! Regina plans to come later to also spend some time here.

I’ll try to update a little also on the happenings at the home in the last weeks. God has been very good to us in providing the needed staff to fill the needs there. Anthony Nisly from Arkansas, Darlene Wagler from Iowa and Sara Enns from Canada all joined us in August. cody

August 17th we received a 5 day old boy who was born with club feet and needs to have casts on both legs. He came without a name and so Christina, his caregiver, has named him Cody until we hear something different.

August 19 was a difficult day as we said goodbye to Marlene. She returned to her home in Costa Rica and has plans to get married sometime this fall. We wish her God’s blessings as she adjusts to her new life but we really miss her at the home!

August 23rd was an exciting day as we had the first day of school for this year as a registered school and without needing to send our children to public school. We praise God for answered prayers on behalf of the school.

Our family also started with school work again. It’s always refreshing to start in new books and start a new year.

August 27th was a painful day for the home. Rocio and Alex have been at the home for 6 years. Many of you learned to know these girls when you came to visit and know that especially Alex loved to be with people. They went through lots of struggles over the years and there was a tremendous amount of energy poured into their lives by a lot of people. The last number of weeks they again were struggling with rebelling against the program we have at the home and really wanted to go somewhere else to live. We assured them of our love for them and our desire to help them but we also realized that there comes a time when you have to allow them to make their choices and release them to find the answers for which they are searching. It was so painful to see them walk into the world, away from the teachings of God, away from those of us who understood them, and only because they want their own way. We bring them to God and trust that in some way He will draw them to Himself so that in their search they would come to truly find the freedom that only He can give.

Thank you all for your prayers on behalf of the home and also for our family during this ‘valley time.’
