Regina & 'her' girls
For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. 2 Chronicles 16:9
God is good. All the time. I love this verse that tells me the Lord’s always keeping His eyes on us, wanting to show Himself strong on our behalf. Hallelujah! He really has been working in my life trying to clean out those ugly corners of pride and selfishness.
On Sunday our speaker here gave a challenging message on selling out completely to God with no reserve. We often shy away from trials… we try to take detours around them. Gold must be refined in the hottest of fires. For us to be refined to the fullest we should go for the center of the trial where the fire is the hottest. We may even think we’re losing our mind. Not to worry… it’s just our fleshing burning off. If only we could somehow be refined without all those hard times, but oh, how I love to walk close to my Lord!
On Tues., Jan. 27 we took Rachel to the airport to fly home again. It was so wonderful to have you here, Rachel! We then did some shopping and went back to the airport to pick up Lyndon’s family. It was their first time to Mexico so it was fun to show them the country here.
We came home thru Tijuana and Nevin got his top braces. He now has a metal smile.
On Thursday Bryan, a 3 yr old boy, came here. He had been bitten by some dogs and spent some time in the hospital. He was so distraught when he came! Cried and cried for his Nana & didn’t want to eat or play at all. But, by the next day he was eating and in several days was a different child. Praise the Lord!
Early Saturday morning Donita needed a ride to the airport. But, Friday evening Darin was sick in bed with the sore throat – cough flu that was going around. So we made a plan b and Randy, Regina & Nevin agreed to take her. So at 5:30 that morning off to their adventure they went. They seemed to have a good time! How much fun can it be to cross the border, drive a stick shift car that you’re not used to, and travel an hour & a half all by yourselves?
The men & boys worked on different projects around here and Lenora was always busy helping all around here. One evening they grilled hamburgers for us and made the supper. They left again on the 4th of Feb. Thanks again for your visit, Lyndon’s.
James Brubaker has kept the brick layers busy on the school house and it is ‘growing’ walls. Of course, in Mexico when they say they’ll be here tomorrow you really don’t know which tomorrow that may be, so he’s also spent some days laying brick himself. We are really enjoying their stay!
Last Friday evening we started with our Spanish classes. We plan to have classes Mon & Fri evenings. Hopefully it will make that our language frustrations will become less and less! Regina Miller is our teacher and Heidi is teaching James & Deb. They did ask if they may laugh at us and Regina can’t wait to make us say some hard words so I’m not sure what we’re going to get yet but it’s been fun so far.
On Saturday Regina & Darin took Edna Mast to the airport and picked up Barbara Hostetler. Barbara & Gina are having a great time catching up on each other’s lives again.
Last week Regina & Regina had told the guys that they’d chore Sunday evening if the guys would cook supper for them. Of course, that was a deal! The guys grilled hot dogs & potatoes, than had chips, pop corn, applesauce & ice cream sandwiches. The girls thought it was worth the effort and they’d do it again. Barbara was brave enough to go help the girls too!
This morning we got up and there were no lights. Well, not so different from normal I think. In come the men and say it will be awhile because the generator starter is shot. OK…. We can do this. Darin went to town and then on to San Diego for parts and is still not back at 5:00 pm. It’s getting dark again and we can do this. The men started the small generator so that we’d have water, which is very nice. Lorne has been sick today too so that didn’t help anything! I’m really understanding the children of Israel a lot more than I used to. I thought they should have know better. Why would they complain when God had been so good to them? I know why they complained! It’s not very nice. It’s unhandy! God is good. All the time.
This is now Wed. and I want to try to get this finished. The next number of days looks like there may not be a lot of extra time here. Last night 5 guys from PA came to be here 2 weeks to help build the schoolhouse. Then by Sat. Greivin Villalobos’ and Philip Miller’s want to be here along with family members that are helping them move. Those two families are moving into the area to start a church outreach here and for church support for the home here as well. We are all thankful for God’s provision for us here.
So lest I get sidetracked again I best finish up here. God’s best to you all!
Tuesday morning in Mexico!

Hi! I hope things are a little more sane around there! The sky looks a bit stormy in the pics of them milking and Gina did finally get to milk a cow. :) And SNOW!
